Golf Events & Competitions


Poult Wood offers a range of competitions and events for experienced golfers and those new to the game. Choose from our Grand Challenge, Coffee Mornings, Junior events and more.

If you would like to obtain a CONGU handicap, play in friendly matches against other clubs, play in regular competitions or just come along and play then you may like to join the Poult Wood Golf Club (PWGC). Membership to the Club is included with all adult course memberships. Find out more.


Poult Wood Free Open Weekend 7 & 8 April 2018

Everyone is welcome to the Poult Wood Open Weekend taking place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 April. Ideal for adults and juniors, golfers and non-golfers - come and get first-hand experience of all that our two great courses and Clubhouse have to offer. From 9.30am onwards visitors can enjoy the following:

  • 9.30am – 11am Complimentary bacon roll and coffee before teeing off
  • From 9.30am Free balls and use of Driving Range
  • 11am-1pm Discounted pre-booked tee times 18 Hole for £10 & 9 Hole for £5
  • On course Pro Challenge at 17th hole
  • 3pm – 4pm Coaching Clinic - "add 10 yards to your drive"

Anyone wishing to attend this FREE event simply needs to contact the Pro Shop on 01732 364039 to sign up. Attendees will receive a voucher for 50% off 18 Holes – valid to 31 May and can take advantage of exclusive discounts in the Pro Shop.


Poult Wood Grand Challenge 2018

Anyone can take part in the Poult Wood Challenge 2018 and play as often as they wish. Your best 12 combined rounds of Stableford scores for the season will count towards your final position. Your performance throughout the year determines how many Stableford points advantage you will receive going into the finals weekend - minimum of three rounds to qualify for finals week.

A handicap is required to play, but if you don't have one we'll use your first three rounds to attain one. So come and join us - professional advice, friendly and fun atmosphere. Green fees payable each day - no need to book just turn up on the day. Challenge games take place each Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, starting on 1 April. The finals weekend will take place on 27 and 28 October. Speak to the Pro Shop and sign up today!



Southern Disability Open 2018

Poult Wood is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the Southern Disability Open for the second time on Saturday 12 May - full details will appear here shortly.



Play Golf in 5 Lessons

Learn to play golf in five lessons, with one of our PGA golf Professionals. These groups are great fun and ideal for complete beginners. In five lessons, we will teach you all you need to know to play golf on our fantastic short course.

For the fifth lesson, we take you onto the course to play nine-holes. We provide all the equipment and balls for the range. First lesson is free and its only £50 for the other four lessons. Great fun, meet new people and it helps you to stay fit. Lessons take place on Tuesday & Thursday at 6:30pm / Thursday & Saturday at 10am.

Coffee Mornings - Tuesday & Friday @ 10am

Come and join our Coffee Mornings and meet fellow golfers in a relaxed environment. Great for fitness, making friends and building skills. The mornings consist of a bucket of balls on the driving range with tuition from one of our PGA professionals, followed by a coffee in the Clubhouse. Sessions cost just £8.50 all welcome. There's no need to book just register at the Pro Shop on the day.

Why not play our 9 Hole Course after the lesson and then enjoy a coffee– additional green fees payable.

Junior Golf Passport Programme

Junior golf lessons are available at Poult Wood after school and at the weekends. Run by our experienced PGA Professionals, in groups of between 3 and 6 pupils, coaching takes place on the driving range, 9 Hole Course and putting green. Each course costs just £60 and consists of eight one hour lessons and follows the golf foundation Junior Passport scheme. There are three levels in total: Start, Learn and Play. Junior 9 Hole Competition - Saturday from 3pm to 4.45pm

Sessions start with a coaching session on the driving range, followed by a round on the 9 Hole Course with our PGA Professional. The winner gets to take home a trophy for the week and to keep a winner's medal. All those who play in three of these events are eligible to play in our finals competition at the London Golf Club. Sessions cost just £8.50 Non Members and £5 Members. Junior Sunday Roll Up Tuition - Sundays

These fun and informal coaching sessions are a great way for juniors to get into golf. Held on the driving range, there's no need to book, just turn up and join in! There are two sessions on offer: 7 years and under from 10am to 10.45am and 7 years plus from 11am to 12 noon. Sessions cost just £6 and include all golf equipment.

Junior Holiday Golf Camps

During the holidays, join us every weekday morning for some great golfing fun! Our experienced PGA Professionals run these entertaining sessions on the driving range and 9 Hole Course. Camps run Monday to Friday and are suitable for those aged 7 to 14 years. Join us for one session or come for the week. Sessions cost £25 for a Half Day and £40 for a Full Day (where available), all equipment is provided.  Find out more here.

Dementia-Friendly Golf Mornings - Second Tuesday of the month

Our Dementia-friendly Golf Mornings take place on the second Tuesday of each month from 11am onwards. The session includes a round on the 9 Hole Course, tuition on the driving range and coffee/tea in the Bar after the game. The mornings cost just £6 per person and carers go free. Southern Disability Open 2017

On the hottest day of the year so far, eighteen golfers with varying degrees of disability participated in the first Southern Disability Open at picturesque Poult Wood. Councillor Pam Bates, Deputy Mayor of Tonbridge & Malling was on the first tee to greet the participants at the start of the competition.Tonbridge & Malling Leisure Trust in conjunction with Kent Golf, hosted this launch competition which was broken down into three categories with an overall Southern Disability Open Champion. The results were as follows:


  • Steve Crocker was the winner of the Men's Handicap, Scratch to 24 with 38 Stableford points
  • Phil Meadows was the winner of the Men's Handicap, Scratch 25 and above with 37 Stableford points
  • Hannie Harris was winner of the Ladies all Handicaps with 33 Stableford points
  • Steve Crocker was crowned the 2017 Southern Disability Open Champion
